Bingham denied Corner Canyon a 6A competitive cheer 3-peat during Wednesday night’s tightly-contested state championships at UVU.

The Miners won two of three individual categories (Sideline/Timeout Cheer and Show) which helped it edge Corner Canyon for the 6A all-girls state championship.

Corner Canyon had won the all-girl state titles in the first two seasons the UHSAA sanctioned competitive cheer, but Bingham dethroned the champs in dramatic fashion on Wednesday.

Corner Canyon finished first in the Sideline/Timeout Dance category as it finished second to Bingham. Davis, Lehi and Mountain Ridge round out the top 5.

In the 6A co-ed division, Westlake swept all three categories to repeat as 6A champs. Riverton finished runner-up, while Weber finished third.

This is the third year the UHSAA has sanctioned competitive cheer and handed out state championship trophies.
