It appears that the Jazz will be part of NBA history Monday night.
Luka Doncic is expected to make his highly-anticipated debut with the Los Angeles Lakers Monday against Utah, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Doncic was acquired by the Lakers in a now-infamous trade in the early hours of Feb. 2, but has yet to suit up for his new team due to a calf injury.
The deal — which sent Doncic from Dallas to L.A. in exchange for a package headlined by Anthony Davis — also included the Jazz, who came away with a pair of second-round picks and the now-waived Jalen Hood-Schifino for helping to facilitate the blockbuster.
Following Monday’s contest in Los Angeles, the Jazz and Lakers will travel back to Salt Lake City to face off again Wednesday at the Delta Center.
In 22 games with the Mavericks prior to being dealt, Doncic was averaging 28.1 points per game along with 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists. His career average of 28.7 points per game is currently third-highest in league history, behind only Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.
Doncic has tormented Utah throughout his career. He’s averaged 27.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7.5 assists across 21 meetings with the Jazz since being drafted in 2018, along with defeating them in the first round of the 2022 playoffs.
