A new viral video shows Arizona Sen. Martha McSally calling a CNN reporter “a liberal hack” after he asked her a question about the impeachment trial.

What happened: CNN reporter Manu Raju approached McSally in the halls of the U.S. Capitol.

  • Raju asked her if she would consider new evidence in the upcoming Senate impeachment trial.
  • McSally responded: “You’re a liberal hack. I’m not talking to you. You’re a liberal hack.”
  • McSally tweeted the video on her own feed.

Why it matters: The video shows the tension beginning to build inside the walls of Congress ahead of the Senate impeachment trial.

  • Per The Washington Examiner, it’s not a good look for McSally, either: “He asked a legitimate question about the impeachment proceedings against President Trump, proceedings in which McSally is set to play an important role as a sitting senator. If she really didn’t feel like talking to him, ignoring the question is always an option.”
