Hurricane Delta — which is now a Category 3 storm — aims to hit Louisiana Friday, specifically hitting the same locations where Hurricane Laura crushed six weeks ago.

  • The National Hurricane Center said Hurricane Delta could bring a “life-threatening storm surge” of close to 11 feet of water in areas.
  • Storm surges often include rising water in locations.

More trouble for Louisiana

Residents in the path of the storm have already fled their homes due to mandatory and voluntary evacuations, USA Today reports.

But the area hasn’t recovered from Hurricane Laura yet, which ripped across the shore and caused $14 million in damage, according to USA Today. At least 26 people died from the hurricane.

“It is very clear that southwest Louisiana is going to get more of a punch from this than we would like to see, for sure, because we’re still trying to recover from Hurricane Laura,” Gov. John Bel Edwards said Thursday, according to CBS News.
