Former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders will have to lower their voices for the upcoming Democratic debate since there will be no audience members there to hear them.
- Sunday night’s debate will be the first between Sanders and Biden.
What’s going on?
- CNN announced Tuesday afternoon that it will eliminate the live audience from the Democratic debate, as well as the press filing center and the spin room in Phoenix.
- The debate will still continue as promised, just without an audience.
- The statement read: “CNN’s top priority is the safety of our employees and community members. This extends to guests planning to attend or cover our debate on March 15. At the request of the campaigns and out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to eliminate the live debate audience, the press filing center and the spin room in Phoenix. We encourage you to tune in to the debate at 8 p.m. ET.”

- According to The Associated Press, DNC Communications Director Xochitl Hinojosa said local public officials said the debate could take place as planned.
- Sanders and Biden canceled election events on Tuesday night because of concerns over the coronavirus.
