An Idaho mother was arrested after she refused to leave a playground area that had been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to multiple reports.
Sara Brady, 40, was reportedly filmed telling an officer to arrest her after she participated in a protest at a playground at a park, which had been closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Parks across the country have been closed due to the outbreak, as health officials warn close contact can help spread the virus.
Brady, who is linked to the anti-vaccine groups Idahoans for Vaccine Freedom and Health Freedom Idaho, was arrested at Kleiner Park in Meridian, Idaho.
According to Idaho news outlet KTVB, the mother said on the video, “Arrest me for being difficult. Do it! Record it!”
Brady was booked to Ada County Jail on Tuesday for trespassing on a closed playground. She faces a maximum penalty of six months in jail or a $1,000 fine, according to Boise State Public Radio.
A protest of about 100 broke out at the park after her arrest.
According to Fox News, the Meridian police said in a statement: “Meridian officers made several attempts to help Brady adhere to the rules. She was noncompliant and forced officers to place her under arrest to resolve the issue. She was arrested for trespassing.”
