Dr. Anthony Fauci recently said on “Today Live” that 2020 was a tough year, but there’s hope for 2021 to be much better.
What happened?
Fauci, who spoke on “Today” about the novel coronavirus and the COVID-19 vaccine, ended his interview with a dire message about 2020.
- “This a worst that we’ve had literally in 102 years…the good news is that science has and will come to the rescue.”
He said 2021 could be a better year, though, where the pandemic ends and life, possibly, returns to normal.
- “As we get well into the year, with a combination of vaccines and proper adherence to public health measures, we can end this thing and crush it.”

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the World Health Organization’s director, issued a message for the new year as well, saying 2020 was a difficult year for the entire world. He said the entire world has a choice to make for 2021.
- “Do we ignore the lessons of 2020 and allow insular, partisan approaches, conspiracy theories and attacks on science to prevail, resulting in unnecessary suffering to people’s health and society at large?
- “Or do we walk the last miles of this crisis together, helping each other along the way, from sharing vaccines fairly, to offering accurate advice, compassion and care to all who need, as one global family.
- “The choice is easy. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and we will get there by taking the path together.”
