A new viral video shows supporters of President Donald Trump harassing Utah Sen. Mitt Romney Tuesday at Salt Lake City International Airport, and Twitter viewers couldn’t believe what they saw.

What’s going on?

As the Deseret News reported, the two-minute video shows Romney — wearing a mask and typing on a laptop — approached by a Trump supporter, who calls him “disgusting.”

  • A woman walks up to Romney — who asks the woman to put on a mask before she finally agrees to do so — to talk about the recent election.
  • “Are you going to support him in the fraudulent votes?” the woman asks, a direct reference to Wednesday’s Congressional confirmation of the Electoral College vote.
  • Romney and the woman have a back-and-forth conversation where Romney calmly talks about his thoughts on the matter. The woman confronts Romney again and again. Another off-camera man jumps into the fray.
  • “You’re a joke. An absolute joke,” the woman said. “It’s a disgusting shame.

Later, a video showed people on a flight chanting “traitor” at Mitt Romney.

Social media reaction

The Romney video went viral quickly Tuesday night during the Georgia Senate runoff elections. People across the internet praised Romney for his calm demeanor during the video footage, especially compared to the off-camera voices who followed him around the airport.
