Southwest Airlines will offer extra pay for its employees who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Southwest Airlines will give fully vaccinated employees 16 hours of extra pay if they show their proof of vaccination by Nov. 15, per CNBC.

“If you have not been vaccinated and choose to do so, this timeline gives you enough time to receive both rounds of a two-series vaccine or the single-dose vaccine,” Southwest said in the memo, per CNBC.

Southwest Airlines told Business Insider it would offer these employees “roughly two days of pay.”

  • And flight attendants and pilots — who are not paid hourly — would receive pay for 13 trip segments, according to CNBC.

And Southwest Airlines will cut quarantine pay for unvaccinated people who get COVID-19. The pay would cover people who got COVID-19 on the job for 10 days, according to Bloomberg.

Back in August, United Airlines said it would require its 67,000 employees to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, as I wrote for the Deseret News.

Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines said it would raise health insurance premiums for unvaccinated employees to help cover the costs of COVID-19 infections, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
