The lawyer for Gabby Petito’s boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, recently canceled a press conference after speaking with the FBI, according to multiple reports.
The attorney, Steven Bertolino, was planning to hold a press conference from Long Island, New York, at 1 pm. on Tuesday. He canceled the press conference Monday night after discussions with the FBI.
- The details of the conversation with the FBI were not revealed. Reporter Eileen Lehpamer said Bertolino did not have an update on Laundrie’s location.
North Port police and FBI agents will head back to the Carlton Reserve Tuesday after they stopped their search there Monday due to rainy and swampy conditions. The FBI will now lead the investigation with the North Port police assisting, reports indicate.
Laundrie, who went missing Tuesday, has been named a person of interest in the disappearance of Petito. The two had been on a cross-country road trip throughout the summer. Laundrie returned home to Florida on Sept. 1 without Petito, who was reported missing on Sept. 11.
- Laundrie was then reported missing on Friday, Sept. 17, after the North Port police visited Laundrie’s home in North Port at the request of the Laundrie family, who said Laundrie has not been seen since Tuesday, Sept. 14.
- The search for Laundrie has intensified after the FBI said it had found human remains in Wyoming that were consistent with the description of Petito. A full analysis will be done Tuesday to determine the cause of death.
