The police department in North Port, Florida, said it is still searching for Brian Laundrie, the boyfriend of the late Gabby Petito. And that search, the police said, now includes a dive team.

“We have received a number of questions about underwater dive vehicles entering the Carlton (Reserve),” spokesperson Joshua Taylor told the Deseret News. “Area resources are looking at large bodies of water, including dive teams, boats and sonar equipment. At this time, this does not mean anything has been found. It’s a part of the overall search process.”

Taylor said the police department was also on scene for another death that had nothing to do with the Laundrie case.

The search for Brian Laundrie does not include Utah or Wyoming, police say

On Friday, Sept. 17, the Laundrie family told North Port police that Laundrie had gone missing and had left their home days before. Since then, police have been searching for Laundrie in Carlton Reserve, a 25,000-acre park in Sarasota County, Florida. North Port police told the Deseret News they are only searching in Florida and not in other states like Utah or Wyoming.

The search for Laundrie comes after the FBI found human remains in Wyoming that were consistent with the description of Petito on Sunday. On Tuesday, the FBI confirmed the remains were of Petito.
