The case of missing Florida college student Miya Marcano took a dark turn this week as a person of interest in the case was found dead from a suicide, according to USA Today.
Miya Marcano, a student at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida, went missing on Friday, Sept. 24. She was last seen at her home at the Arden Villas, which is an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida, where Marcano also worked.
A maintenance worker, Armando Caballero, used a master key to access Marcano’s apartment, becoming a person of interest in the case. Caballero told police that he had last seen her about 3 p.m. on Friday, according to The Daily Beast.
“He had demonstrated a romantic interest in Miya. This was repeatedly rebuffed by Miya,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina said, per USA Today.

Mina said deputies had an issued an arrest warrant for Caballero. But they found him dead at an apartment complex where he worked.
“It appears he has killed himself,” Mina said, per USA Today.
Per The Daily Beast, the police said 30 detectives are still looking for Marcano.
Marcano’s dad, Marlon Marcano, has been sharing photos of his daughter on social media, asking for help to find her.
“I haven’t slept or eaten in days,” he wrote in his latest Instagram post. “Where are you baby??? Your whole family is here looking for you. We will not stop until you’re back home. I’m slowly losing my mind over here.”
