The northeastern United States is about to get blasted with winter weather — it’s just unclear what the damage will be.

The news: Forecasts predict heavy snow and strong winds in the Northeast for this upcoming weekend, putting millions of people under winter storm watches, CNN reports.

  • Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island could see 8 to 16 inches of snow.
  • The storm will form off the coast of Georgia in the Atlantic Ocean. Over time, it will strengthen and spread up the East Coast over the weekend.

More details: The storm could form into a “bomb cyclone,” according to CBS News.
