It’s been a week and a half since former President Jimmy Carter died, and his official state funeral will take place on Thursday. The services will be covered by multiple television networks.
The former president died on Dec. 29 at the age of 100, as previously reported by the Deseret News.
Carter’s funeral services began on Saturday in the former president’s home state of Georgia, where he was lying in repose at the Carter Presidential Center, per USA Today.
On Tuesday Carter’s remains left Georgia and traveled Washington, D.C., where he lied in state at the United States Capitol rotunda.
His official state funeral begins at 8 a.m. MST, on Jan. 9. The service will be at the Washington National Cathedral.
The motorcade to the cathedral began at 7:15 a.m. MST.
All five living U.S. presidents are expected to attend the service. This will be the first time since George H.W. Bush’s funeral in 2018 that all living presidents will be gathered face to face, per CNN.
After the service ends Carter’s body will be flown back to Georgia for a private service at the Maranatha Baptist Church at 1:45 p.m. MST. Then he will be laid to rest at his home in Plains, Georgia, per USA Today.
How to watch Jimmy Carter’ official state funeral
There are multiple different networks that will be doing special coverage for the state funeral Thursday morning.
Networks that are covering the services include ABC, CBS, BBC, NBC and PBS.
The memorial service can also be streamed live on Hulu and Disney+ through ABC.
Even though Carter’s state funeral will begin at 8 a.m. MST, most of the coverage will begin an hour or two earlier in order to cover the procession to the cathedral, according to ABC.
