SALT LAKE CITY — Three people, including one juvenile, injured in a drive-by shooting in downtown Salt Lake City on Friday night were expected to survive, police said.

People were coming out of The Complex music venue, 536 W. 100 South, after a concert about 10 p.m. when an argument occurred on the street. Salt Lake police said Saturday. The fight was “possibly gang related,” police said.

Shots were ultimately fired at three people walking west on 100 South from a white car driving by, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Carlos Valencia.

One of the victims shot back at the car, which was an unidentified older model, before the car took off driving west on 100 South and then north on 600 West, Valencia said.

One of the victims was shot in the chest but was stabilized, according to police. Another, a juvenile, was shot in the foot. The third victim was also taken to a hospital with injuries.

Police on Saturday said they all three gunshot victims were expected to recover.

The exact age of the victims is unknown.

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call 801-799-3000 and reference case number 19-220543.
