SALT LAKE CITY — A Midvale man who friends say “has been causing havoc” for several weeks was arrested for the third time in 10 days.
As of Friday, Patrick Jared Gibb, 32, remained in the Salt Lake County Jail.
Gibb was arrested on Dec. 1 for allegedly driving 118 mph in a construction zone on I-15 in Clearfield, according to a Davis County Jail booking affidavit.
“Due to weather, the construction workers were not present at the time but 5 a.m. is normally an active work hour in the construction project,” the arresting trooper noted in the affidavit.
When Utah Highway Patrol troopers questioned Gibb, he “was making strange statements and appeared to be under the influence of something,” the affidavit states.
Gibb called his mother who also spoke with troopers and told them her son “has mental health issues and is a danger to himself and others. She requested that I take him into custody so Gibb does not hurt anyone and so Gibb can get help,” according to the affidavit.
He was arrested for investigation of reckless driving.
Three days later, Unified police were called to Gibb’s apartment where his roommate said “Gibb had just broken down his bedroom door and assaulted him,” according to a Salt Lake County Jail booking affidavit.
The roommate said Gibb screamed at him, punched him and then put him in a chokehold, the affidavit states.
The roommate told police he and Gibb are good friends, “but he just relapsed on methamphetamine, and is off his bipolar medications and has been causing havoc for the past several weeks,” according to the affidavit.
Gibb was arrested for investigation of assault and criminal mischief and later charged with those crimes, both class B misdemeanors, in Midvale Justice Court.
On Wednesday, Gibb was arrested again for investigation of two counts of forcible sexual abuse. In that case, police say Gibb was at a bar in Draper when he inappropriately touched two women, according to a jail booking affidavit, and then walked outside and yelled at cars as they drove by.
When police questioned Gibb, he told them that someone was squeezing his calves, even though no one was touching him.
“The suspect then became agitated, yelling at me ... ’You have Trump talking in your ear. Just shoot me, you already have,’” according to the affidavit.
Court records say Gibb was also charged with criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor, for an undisclosed incident in that city on Tuesday.
Friday afternoon, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office filed charges in two incidents.
Gibb was charged with two counts of forcible sexual abuse, both second-degree felonies, for the incident on Wednesday in Draper.
He was also charged with burglary, a second-degree felony; domestic violence, a third-degree felony; domestic violence and two counts of assault, all class B misdemeanors, for an incident that police say happened on Dec. 1 prior to the his arrest for allegedly driving 118 mph.
Gibb allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house in West Jordan while she was sleeping, and punched her in the face while asking, “Where are my drugs?” Gibb also kicked the woman in the head and face and threatened to kill her, the charges state.
