SALT LAKE CITY — Police are looking for a man suspected of shooting and killing a woman west of downtown Salt Lake City on Thursday afternoon.
The shooting at the corner of 800 West and North Temple was reported about 5 p.m. when someone called to report a woman bleeding from her head, Salt Lake City Lt. Jenn Diederich said. Two witnesses told police they saw a woman talking to three men when one of the men shot her.
Police believe the shooting was intentional and not accidental, Diederich said.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries shortly after arrival, Diederich said. Her name has not been released because authorities are still notifying her family, but police said she was in her 30s.
Investigators believe they know the identify of the shooter, Diederich said, but do not know his whereabouts or the whereabouts of the other two men who were seen talking to the woman.
Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that the public is not in danger, Diederich said.
