Three killed in head-on crash in southern Utah

MONTICELLO — Three people died and one person was critically injured Saturday after a head-on crash in San Juan County, troopers said.

At 4:17 p.m., a pickup truck was driving south near Monticello on state Route 191 when it veered onto the northbound lane and hit an SUV towing a boat, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

The truck hit the SUV head-on, killing both occupants of the SUV, according to the UHP.

Kenneth Harding, 75, and Frances Harding, 73, both of Goodman, Arizona, died on scene, troopers said. The passenger of the truck, Patricia Storm, 68, of Minot, North Dakota, also died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was flown to a Colorado hospital in critical condition.

All four occupants of the two vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, troopers said.

The accident remained under investigation Sunday.
