ELK RIDGE, Utah County — Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying whoever might have stabbed or shot a dog with an arrow in south Utah County.
On Tuesday, an Elk Ridge resident returned home to find her dog, Lucy, injured in her fenced backyard, according to a statement from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. The dog was believed to be a Terrier mix.
When the dog was treated, the vet said “it appeared someone had either stabbed Lucy or shot her using a bow and arrow,” the sheriff’s office said.
No arrow was found at the scene, according to Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon. He said investigators were also leaving open the possibility that the small dog was attacked by a hawk or owl or some other wildlife.
The dog is expected to make a full recovery. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 801-794-3970.
