PROVO — A BYU student from Chile was hit and killed by a car while longboarding over the weekend.

About 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Jonathan Godoy Morales, 25, was riding a longboard on Stadium Avenue, according to Provo police. As he approached the intersection at Canyon Road, two vehicles were going south and another heading north. The vehicles on Canyon Road had the right of way, according to police.

The driver of the northbound car had to slam on its brakes to avoid hitting the longboarder, police stated. The first southbound vehicle also got around the student, but the second car hit him. Police said the man was thrown 20 feet.
