SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was critically injured after being hit by a car Saturday morning in Salt Lake City, police said.

The woman, 60, was crossing the road at the intersection of Foothill Dr. and Wakara Way when she was struck about 6:45 a.m., said Salt Lake City Police Lt. Brett Olsen. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, he said, which occurred near the University of Utah.

The woman was taken to University Hospital for treatment, Olsen said.

He said the cause of the crash remained under investigation. It was unknown whether the car ran a red light, he said.

Foothill Drive at Sunnyside Avenue was expected to remain closed for several hours while a crash team investigated, he said.
