SALT LAKE CITY — Rep. Rob Bishop, Utah’s longest serving member of the state’s congressional delegation, announced Thursday he is endorsing GOP contender Blake Moore to replace him in the 1st Congressional District.

Moore is a former U.S. Foreign Service officer who served in Asia and domestically and is now with Cicero Group, a Utah-based management consulting firm, where he’s helped businesses grow and helped organizations solve problems.

Bishop praised Moore’s skills and background.

“I wholeheartedly endorse Blake Moore. He will be an effective voice for northern Utah’s many public policy interests, from agriculture and farming to energy and manufacturing,” Bishop said. “He is a conservative leader and I trust him to continue the legacy of fighting for Hill Air Force Base.”

Moore is vying for the seat against Darren Parry, a Democrat and a leader of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation.
