Veronica Msambya, an eighth grade English Language Development student at Glendale Middle School, rides a new Specialized bicycle during her physical education class at the school in Salt Lake City on Thursday. Lucas Tucker, a physical education teacher at the school, applied for Ourtride’s Riding for Focus grant and was awarded 51 new bicycles and helmets for students to use during their physical education classes. The students are English Language Development students, and they’re attending classes in person. The bikes were donated by Andrew Love, brand manager for Specialized Bicycle Components, which just happens to be down the road from the school. Two weeks ago, Tucker and other school staff joined Love at the warehouse to assemble all of the bikes.
