BOUNTIFUL — A Utah Department of Transportation worker was hospitalized early Thursday after being hit by a car.

The incident happened about 4:15 a.m. on I-15 near 400 North in Bountiful. A UDOT worker was getting into his work truck on the passenger side when he was hit on the head by the side mirror of a passing vehicle, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The freeway was partially closed as troopers investigated the accident. The worker was taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening, the UHP stated.

The driver that hit the UDOT worker was not believed to be impaired and was cooperating with authorities, according to the UHP.
