WEST VALLEY CITY — A juvenile male was in critical condition after being shot in a vehicle parked outside of a house party early Saturday morning. The incident may be gang related, police said.
Police said they received at least 10 phone calls reporting shooting near 3800 S. Hawkeye Drive about 1:30 a.m. Responding officers discovered a trail of spent shell casings along the street for roughly a block, police said.
Police said some unwanted guests showed up to the house party and were turned away. An altercation outside the home erupted with the juvenile male.
A suspect, believed to be a juvenile as well, allegedly fired a gun at the juvenile while he sat inside a vehicle, police said.
Friends drove the juvenile who was shot to a nearby hospital but he was later transferred to Intermountain Medical Center where he is in critical but stable condition, police said.
