PARK CITY — A Sandy woman was shot in the back while at a party at a rental property in Summit County early Sunday.

Summit County sheriff’s deputies were called to the residence on Teal Drive, in the Kimball Junction area north of I-80, just before 3:30 a.m. Several residents called 911 reporting that they had heard multiple gunshots, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. One caller reported seeing “dozens of cars” leaving the residence.

Deputies stopped three vehicles on U.S. 40 near Silver Summit and learned “that there was in fact a shooting and the victim was being transported to Park City Medical Center in a separate vehicle,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators discovered a 22-year-old woman had a gunshot wound to her back. She was transferred by medical helicopter to a hospital in the Salt Lake Valley, the sheriff’s office stated. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

As of Monday, no one had been arrested in connection with the shooting. What prompted the shooting also remained under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Summit County Sheriff’s Office at 435-615-3601.
