HURRICANE — A 78-year-old man died Monday in a head-on collision on state Route 9 in southern Utah.
About 9 a.m., an 83-year-old man driving east near Hurricane in a Dodge Journey left his lane for an unknown reason and began traveling in the westbound lane, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The 78-year-old, driving a Honda Ridgeline west in the correct lane, then collided head-on with the Dodge, troopers say.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Dodge was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to UHP.
Troopers have not yet released the identities of either men.
