SALT LAKE CITY — A West Valley man is facing charges after police say he offered an undercover officer posing as a juvenile girl $500 to hang out with him and maybe engage in sex.
Mohammad Nur, 27, was charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court with criminal solicitation, a first-degree felony, and enticing a minor, a second-degree felony.
In August, Nur contacted a Salt Lake police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl online, according to charging documents. Nur offered the person he thought was the girl hundreds of dollars, gifts and shopping trips to meet her, the charges state.
The undercover officer told Nur she was looking for a “hook up” and Nur replied, “Me too,” according to the charges.
“I wanted you to ask me that. I did not ask you because I thought it would hurt you by asking that I didn’t want you to block me,” Nur messaged the officer, the charges state.
On Sunday, Nur again messaged the undercover officer and stated, “I want to hang out with you and if you want we can have sex,” according to the charges.
Nur said he would give the girl $500. When Nur arrived at the designated meeting location, he was arrested. Police found $500 in his pocket, the charge state.
