SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police have arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.
Anisi Kathayat was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of three counts of rape of a child, two counts of sodomy on a child and two counts of sex abuse of a child.
The investigation began in May when police received a report of child abuse involving a 12-year-old girl, according to a police affidavit, The girl was interviewed by police in June at the Children’s Justice Center, at which time she disclosed three separate incidents of sexual abuse by Kathayat, the affidavit states.
Detectives located Kathayat in South Salt Lake on Wednesday and arrested him after interviewing him, according to the affidavit.
