SALT LAKE CITY — The body of a 36-year-old man was found several hundred yards from a vehicle that police said plunged off a cliff near St. George on Thursday.
Washington County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about 3 p.m. Thursday in which someone reported seeing a car “go off a cliff” near in the rugged Warner Valley, according to Washington County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nate Abbott.
Deputies located a pickup truck, but could not find a driver or any passengers inside or near the crash site, he said. Police searched until about midnight, but didn’t find a driver.
Deputies resumed the search Friday morning, and around 9 a.m., the body of a 36-year-old man was found about 200 to 300 yards from the crashed truck, Abbott said.
The man’s body was sent to the medical examiner’s office, and detectives were awaiting more information. The vehicle that crashed was connected to a case involving a missing person, Abbott said.
The identity of the man whose body was found wasn’t released Friday.
