SALT LAKE CITY — A man died and a woman was critically injured early Sunday in a shooting at a downtown Salt Lake apartment complex, police said.
About 3:53 a.m., police were called on the report of shots fired at the Milagro Apartments, 241 W. 200 South, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Lisa Pascadlo.
When officers arrived, they found a man and woman, both described as in their 20s, with gunshot wounds in the lobby of the high-rise complex. They were both taken to a local hospital, where the man died, Pascadlo said.
His name was not released Sunday.
“At this time, we have not identified a suspect. I am unsure as to what led up to an altercation or why these two were together at the time that this occurred, and so we really have very little information and we have been sorting our way through the info,” Pascadlo said.
Police believe another person or people shot the man and woman. It appeared the shooting happened within the apartment building.
Investigators were working to get video surveillance footage from the scene, she said.
Anyone who might have information about the shooting is asked to call police at 801-799-3000.
