Families enjoy sledding in the snow up Big Cottonwood Canyon on Monday. The snow drew crowds of recreating Utahns to the Cottonwood canyons on Presidents Day, forcing a closure of Big Cottonwood Canyon in the afternoon due to traffic congestion, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. Little Cottonwood Canyon was closed in the morning for avalanche control. Following the snowy holiday, temperatures are expected to warm through the end of the week.
