CEDAR CITY — A 3-year-old was killed Sunday in a crash on I-15 in Cedar City, troopers said.
The crash occurred about 3:05 p.m. when the 3-year-old started to cry, and the driver of a southbound Toyota 4Runner reached around to give the child a bottle. The vehicle then drifted onto the right shoulder and overcorrected, colliding with the guardrail, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.
The 3-year-old was only wearing a regular lap seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.
Additional details about the child, including name and gender, were not immediately released.
A female passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center. The driver sustained minor injuries.
They were both wearing seat belts, according to the UHP.
