SMITHFIELD, Cache County — A man died early Saturday morning after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the road in Cache County, police said.
About 4:50 a.m., a car was northbound on Main Street in Smithfield when Narold Lyman, 77, crossed the road going west at the intersection of 100 South, Smithfield police said in a statement.
“Due to low light visibility, the driver was unable to see Mr. Nyman,” police said.
Nyman, of Smithfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said he regularly crossed that road on his way to a nearby laundry facility.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and was interviewed by officers.
There was no evidence of impairment in the crash, police said, and the driver was released on scene with no charges expected.
