EAGLE MOUNTAIN — A 9-year-old boy was killed after a small motorcycle he was driving crashed into a tree Tuesday afternoon in Eagle Mountain.

The boy was traveling on Golden Eagle Road when he hit a curb and lost control of the motorcycle, according to Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon.

When emergency crews responded to the crash about 12:45 p.m., they found the boy was not breathing, had no pulse and had sustained “extensive” injuries to his upper body.

He was initially listed in extremely critical condition. About an hour later, Cannon confirmed the boy had passed away.

The boy was wearing a helmet, the sergeant confirmed. Police have not yet released his name. His body will be taken to the medical examiner’s office in Taylorsville.
