SALT LAKE CITY — An 82-year-old woman was charged Monday with taking funds from her adoptive adult disabled daughter that were supposed to pay for rent, according to prosecutors.

Geneva Maxine Facemyer, of Taylorsville, was charged in 3rd District Court by the Utah Attorney General’s Office with financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult, a second-degree felony.

According to charging documents, Facemyer “was responsible for receiving Social Security funding and Social Security Supplemental Security Income funding for (the woman) and using those funds for the benefit of (her). Defendant instead used this money for the benefit of someone other than (the woman) and failed to pay room and board expenses for (her) at (the) group home where (she) was living,” the charges state.
