MONTICELLO, San Juan County — A woman killed in a Sunday three-vehicle crash in southern Utah has been identified as 26-year-old Zuhra Samadi.

The crash occurred on U.S. 191 near Monticello just before 10 p.m. after Samadi, driving a Chevy Tahoe, attempted to pass a Ford F-350 pulling a 25-foot trailer in a no passing zone and hit a Dodge Ram pickup truck head-on, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

UHP reports that the collision’s impact pushed Samadi’s vehicle into the F-350 trailer.

Samadi, from Salt Lake City, died of her injuries on scene while a 2-year-old passenger was brought to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to UHP.

Two other people in the Dodge Ram were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries, according to UHP. Five others in the F-350 were treated and released at the scene.

Troopers were on scene for more than four hours Sunday and returned Monday to complete their investigation.
