Joshua Petersen loads donations into a truck for the Ogden Rescue Mission and the Lantern House outside Kirt’s Family Drive Inn in Ogden on Monday. The drive was organized because supplies of food and key essentials such as towels and socks have been in great need amid the coronavirus pandemic, and the need is expected to continue for as long as unemployment remains high. “I’ve been surprised, many people said, ‘Thanks for giving us the opportunity to help, we just didn’t know how,’” said Grant Protzman, who helped organize the event. “There’s a real need.” Protzman said Tuesday more 3,000 pounds of good were collected during the drive.
