CEDAR CITY — Visitors at New Castle Reservoir in Iron County pulled a man’s body from the water Saturday, authorities said.
Deputies responded to the area about 8:45 a.m. The Iron County Sheriff’s Office did not say whether the man’s death appeared suspicious, his possible cause of death, or how long he was in the water.
The man was identified as a 53-year-old Utah resident, but his name and city of residence were not immediately released.
His body was taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine how he died.
A 67-year-old man believed to have associated with the deceased at the reservoir was taken to Cedar City Hospital with minor injuries, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the man’s death and the other man’s injuries, according to the statement.
