SALT LAKE CITY — A Davis County man who was apparently upset that a plastic disc hit his vehicle has been arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at the Frisbee owner, according to police.
Benjamin William Thomas, 36, of South Weber, was arrested Wednesday for investigation of aggravated robbery.
Thomas was at Sugar House Park, 1330 E. 2100 South, when the victim’s flying disc hit the side of Thomas’ van, according to a police affidavit.
“(Thomas) picked up the Frisbee and refused to give the property back to the victim. The victim offered him money in exchange for the Frisbee, at which point (Thomas) took the money,” the affidavit states.
The two parties then got into an argument after Thomas kept both the money and the plastic disc, according to the affidavit. As Thomas attempted to get into his van and drive away, the other disc owner tried to stop him.
At that point, Thomas “stabbed the victim in the hand with his car keys, causing injury to the victim’s hand. (He) then grabbed a loaded pistol and pointed it directly at the victim in an attempt to leave the park with the victim’s property,” the affidavit states.
