WEST VALLEY CITY — A 36-year-old man is dead after a shooting in West Valley City Monday night, police confirmed.
About 7:10 p.m. West Valley police received a call of a man shot near 1400 West and 3500 South. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and later died from his injuries.
Police are still searching for the gunman, who fled on foot after the shooting. According to West Valley police, the shooter and victim knew each other. However, additional details were not immediately released. Police say they do not have a description or motive.
An investigation is underway, and officers from West Valley police spent Monday night canvassing for witnesses and evidence. Police are asking anyone with information to call 801-840-4000.
