Ashley Muhlestein paddles a small raft with her two boys, Hawk and August, as they enjoy the weather at Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon on Tuesday. According to, the lake is surrounded by a boardwalk making it accessible to people of all ages, as well as those with disabilities. The boardwalk is less than a mile long and features benches, picnic tables and a dock area for fishing. The lake, which is stocked with trout each year, is a popular hiking destination in the spring, summer and fall.
