KEARNS — Unified police on Sunday arrested a man who they say shot and robbed another man last week.

Ahmed Rosas, 18, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and felony discharge of a firearm.

On July 8, police say Rosas shot an 18-year-old man twice inside a car near 4800 West and 5400 South. The victim had met with Rosas to sell him THC cartridges, according to a police affidavit.

“Ahmed got in his vehicle and robbed him. Ahmed Rosas struck him in the face with a firearm and then shot him twice,” the affidavit states.

Rosas also put the gun to the victim’s head and asked him, “Do you want me to shoot you again?” before taking some THC cartridges and running away, the affidavit says.

The victim, who was taken to a local hospital, helped police identify Rosas.

Police noted that Rosas has gang affiliations and was arrested for “weapons violations” as a juvenile.
