MAGNA — A Draper man was arrested Sunday after police say he hit a motorcyclist, dragged him and then tried to run away from police.

Kyle Jason Hale, 26, was arrested for investigation of DUI, failing to remain at the scene of serious crash, having an open container in his car, drug possession and failing to stop at the command of police.

About 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Hale, who was driving a 2010 Mustang, hit a motorcycle near 8240 W. 3500 South, according to a police affidavit, and dragged the bike and motorcyclist about 50 yards.

“The victim was bleeding from both of his elbows, his hands, and his knees. He also had road rash on his face and his hip, and scratches on his back,” the affidavit states.

Shortly after hitting the motorcycle, Hale crashed his car into a ditch and ran off, according to the affidavit. A Unified police officer spotted Hale running and took him into custody at gunpoint.

Open beer bottles and marijuana were also found inside the car, the affidavit says.

“While walking to my vehicle, Kyle had a hard time standing on his own or walking straight. He continued to ask the same questions over and over again,” according to the affidavit.
