Keisha Jimenez packs baked goods for customers during a fundraising bake sale at Fillings & Emulsions Bakery in West Valley City on Sunday. The Families Belong Together Bake Sale was held to help children detained at the border, who organizers noted are at higher risk during the pandemic. The fundraiser last year collected $40,000 for that cause. To accommodate social distancing amid the pandemic, this year’s bake sale was done drive-thru style. Proceeds this year went to the the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services and the Texas Civil Rights Project, organizers said. The fundraiser is also accepting donations online at families-belong-together-bakesale.square.site.
