OGDEN — An Ogden man was charged Thursday with raping his daughter’s teenage friend during a sleepover at his house.

Shannon Lee Capps, 48, of Ogden, is charged in 2nd District Court with rape, a first-degree felony.

Police were called Wednesday morning to investigate a possible rape involving a teen girl. “The 16-year-old victim reported that she slept over at a friend’s house and was raped by her friend’s father,” according to charging documents.

The girl told police that as she was being assaulted and attempted to get away, but said Capps “put his hand over her mouth and told her that she should not tell anybody,” the charges state.

The Ogden Metro SWAT team responded to Capps’ house to serve a search warrant. As they were entering, Capps crawled out of a basement window and tried to flee, the charges state. He was taken into custody a short time later.
