SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake woman accused of causing serious injuries to a 1-year-old girl, possibly leaving the child blind, has been arrested.
Sabrina Ewer, 21, was arrested Friday for investigation of child abuse and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
Salt Lake police were notified of the abuse Friday morning by doctors at Primary Children's Hospital and employees from the Division of Child and Family Services, according to a police affidavit.
“Detectives responded to the hospital and were informed that the extent of the injuries were consistent with major trauma to the head, neck and to the skeletal system of the 1-year-old child. Medical staff further informed detectives there are potential long-term injuries to include blindness related to the injuries,” the affidavit states.
When Ewer was interviewed by police, she “admitted to shaking the infant child,” according to the affidavit.
