HOLLADAY — A 58-year-old man was in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times over the weekend.
Daimen Mikel, 25, was arrested Monday by Unified police and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault and aggravated burglary.
About 9 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the area of 4600 South and 2200 East where a neighbor reported the victim was fighting with another man in front of a home and had been stabbed multiple times, according to a statement from Unified police.
The man was taken to a local hospital “with stab wounds to his neck, face and head. He is currently in critical condition,” police stated.
Unified police searched the area but could not find the attacker. On Sunday, Unified Fire Authority firefighters spotted a man who matched the suspect’s description in the area of 2300 East and 4400 South, according to police. Officers were called and confirmed it was the man they were looking for.
“He had undisclosed injuries that required treatment at a hospital,” police stated.
Mikel was released from the hospital on Monday and booked into jail.
In 2019, Mikel was convicted of assaulting his roommate and sentenced to probation, according to court records.
