SALT LAKE CITY — A man suffered a possible broken back after being hit by a suspected drunken driver Tuesday.
Francisco Arellano-Meza, 44, was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of DUI causing serious injury, never obtaining a license and failing to stay in his lane.
On Tuesday, about 4 p.m., Arellano was driving on State Street near 1300 South when he hit a parked car on the side of the road, according to a police affidavit. That vehicle was then pushed into another vehicle waiting to turn onto State Street. The driver of that car was taken to a local hospital with a possible broken back, the affidavit states.
Arellano failed a field sobriety tests and his blood alcohol content measured at 0.171, or more than three times the legal limit, when given a Breathalyzer test, according to the affidavit.
