STRAWBERRY RESERVOIR — A 69-year-old Utah man died Tuesday after a boating accident on Strawberry Reservoir.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m., a boat with five occupants capsized on the northern Utah reservoir, according to Wasatch County Sheriff’s Sgt. Josh Probst.
All five were able to swim to safety. However, once on shore the man, whose identity has not been released, began having difficulty and eventually stopped breathing, Probst said.
CPR was initiated by the man’s family, and by first responders upon arrival, but the man died on scene. Probst said some members of the party were wearing life jackets, but he didn’t know whether the man who died was wearing one.
A storm moved over the reservoir Tuesday afternoon, which Probst said could have contributed to the accident.
“In that area, weather patterns can change rapidly,” he said. “So that obviously may be a contributor to the boat taking on water and capsizing.”
